The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
