The New Mayor Promises a 'Dawn' for NYC in Inaugural Address
On his first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an audacious start to his administration.
An Unprecedented Mayor
The 34-year-old democratic socialist, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
